The Folly of the Beast Pinot Noir is surprisingly bold and delicious. Typically, you can expect Pinot Noir varietals to be more lighter bodied. This wine was more of a medium-to-light bodied wine, but had a lot of bold flavors like pepper and mocha. It was still very smooth and easy to drink, like a classic Pinot Noir.
This 2013 vintage was harvested from the Central Coast of California. The more north you go in California, the more Pinot Noir varietals you will find. The cooler climates are more suitable for this delicate grape. Being from the Central Coast, these grapes developed a more earthy and bold flavor profile. We would pair this wine with a chicken dish or an arugula salad topped with pecans and strawberries! :)
